Review of the book “Explaining the Unexplained (Myths, Miracles and

Mysticism in Hinduism) ” by Shri Anbil Ramaswamy

 

Let me at the outset state that Sri Anbil Ramaswamy has become really a

world renowned scholar by his monumental works “Hinduism Rediscovered” and

the above book which is under review now. It is still a wonder how he was

able to gather so much of information contained in this book under review.

 

He has been able to give beautiful, very convincing explanations to many

very subtle points in our scriptures.

 

This he has been able to give on account of his deep devotion to-wards his

revered Achaarya His Holiness Paravakottai Srimad Andavan Sri Gopala Desika

Mahadesikan. Upanishad says if a person has deep devotion to-wards his

Achaarya, even the intricate points not taught by the Achaarya will strike

to him. Keeping in with the saying that Philosophical points and other

inner truths in epics and puranas should be gathered from many great

scholars, Sri Anbil Ramaswamy has done Kalakshepam under the late Sri

P.N.Krishnamachar Swamy popularly known as Purisai Swamy, under his holiness

Srimath Alagia singar in poorva ashramam and his holiness Paravakottai

Srimad Andavan.

 

The naming of the topics in this book has been very well done using

appropriate words. The language and the vocabulary adopted to explain many

intricate points are really impressive and effective.

 

Hitherto nobody other than the author of this book has attempted to give

such an appealing explanation for clearing various doubts that arise in our

scriptures.

 

In this aspect the author deserves our hearty congratulations, felicitations

and our prayer to poorvacharyas and the divine couple of Srirangam for

blessing him with long life, sound mind and sound body.

 

Just as Sri Vedanta Desika says that Sri Rahasyatrayasara which is his

master piece was dictated by Lord Lakshmi Hayagriva who sat in his mind and

he merely wrote it. So also in the case of this author such a beautiful

book would not have appeared in this world but for the verbatim dictation of

the Lord Lakshmi Hayagriva and Poorvacharya by sitting in his mind.

 

This book is therefore without a parallel.

 

The author derives complete satisfaction and pleasure if every Sri Vaishnava

possesses this book and goes through with full concentration of mind the

entire text and enjoys the contents.

 

He deserves all our admiration for his benefaction to our entire community

through this book and our deep gratitude.

 

His mentioning the name of his revered Acharya at various places who has

given thought provoking explanations to many points is praise worthy.

 

I wish several editions of this book would come in quick succession soon

after the exhaustion of copies of previous edition and further more points

which are hidden now will come to light with rejoicing and penetrating

explanations.

 

I pray the divine couple of Srirangam to shower their choicest blessings on

this book as well as on the author.
