Guest guest
Dear Bhaghavatas: While this is a good topic, I do not wish to make "Sri Ranga Sri" a forum for discussion of various views, the pros and cons of proposals and counter proposals. All discussions may be done in private mails. You may mark a copy to my personal email id Ramanbil for my information and inputs. We can go public if and when some concrete plan gets in place. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. Moderator ====================================================================== Asmad gurubhyo namah, Dear friends, This article is sort of related to all of us and may not be exactly a fit for this group. I will post this only once because it is very appropriate for this group to help out in this aspect. This definitely will affect everyone of us in this group and may very well affect the very existence of this group in the long term. I request you all to help out to create a forum for teenagers of our community to know each other via an internet forum. All I am suggesting is to open communication and get to know each other. I request you all to think about what kind of forum or a user group needs to be created to foster this kind of interactions between the youngsters. I have requested Mani Varadarajan to suggest some ideas or enlist some people. Since he may have very little time, I suggest some one else to come forward to lead this initiative. I am not suggesting any off colour forum like a dating site etc. But definitely this new forum is to create open communications between youth so that this could one day be a barrier in some form against increased instances of people marrying outside our community. Please don't politicize or mistake what I am indicating. Just like how Jews get together by organizing Jewish forums, which may be on internet or community events, I like to suggest that srivaishnavas should have a similar group / set of events for youngsters in particular. If need be, please create another discussion user group to discuss this matter over internet, if it is inappropriate to have a continued discussion regarding this. I know that NAMA once wanted to do something like this and I don't know what happened to that idea. I hope NAMA folks on this group can do something about it. Once upon a time Bhakti list clearly united us as a community. But there was nothing specific to youngsters. We need a group for youngsters to get to know each other, without adults imposing on them, so that they have freedom. I suggest that the nature of this group should evolve naturally and need not be curtailed by anyone. Only then will the youngsters feel comfortable. This may be of the form of a "chat group" or an IM group or bloggers group. It need not be a simple email forum. I like to enlist some computer experts, volunteers etc. to help out and create this forum as a service to everyone. We may want to create a separate user group to discuss the logistics of such a group / forum for youngsters. I request everyone sincerely to please help out to set this up quickly. I am hoping to get some active volunteers and some quick action. Adiyen, Krishna Kashyap
