Guest guest
||SrImathe RaAmaAnujaAya Namaha|| The closest reference that comes to my mind is the "Amarakosha" - Lexicography by Aamara Simha(?). He was a distinguished scholar, one among the nine "gems" (navaratna) during Vikramaditya's court ( about 380 A. D.) The lines (Laxmi 14) runs thus... LaxmiI PadmalayaA Aadma Kamala SrIHaripriyaA| (1.1.62) IndiraA LokamataAma RamaA MangaladevataA | (1.1.63) Bhargavi Loka Jananee Ksheera SaAgara Kanniika (1.1.64) Please see the URL for example http://sanskrit.gde.to/doc_z_misc_amarakosha.html and click on KaaNDa 1 (PDF) Dasen vijay_sudharshanam <vijay_sudharshanam wrote: srImathE rAmAnujAya nama: dear bhagavathas, Bhaargavi is one of the several names of mahalakshmi. can any one tell me how the name originated. waiting for a reply. Guest guest
Sri: The word 'Bhaargavi' is derived from Bhrigu. 'bhrigo: apatyam stree - bhaargavii' . We see from Vishnupurana in Sristuti in the first amsa, that once Mahalakshmi was born as the daughter of Bhrigu maharshi through his wife 'Khyaati' as per 'Bhrigo: Khyaatyaam samutpannaa shrii: poorvam'. In the same lineage of Bhrigu was born Sukracharya, also called Bhaargava, the guru of the demons. dasan Ramanuja On Sat, 28 Jan 2006, Srikrishna Ranganathan wrote: > Dear All, > > One interesting information is that the Thayar of > Thiruvahindrapuram is called Bhargavi Thaayar. > > regards > daasan > sreekrishna ranganathan > > --- JAYASHREE VARADA <srinathbelur wrote: > > > ||SrImathe RaAmaAnujaAya Namaha|| > > > > The closest reference that comes to my mind is the > > "Amarakosha" - Lexicography by Aamara Simha(?).
