Guest guest
Dear fellow Sri Vaishnavaites, I found this group after searching on Groups for a Sri Vaishnava group. Would like to humbly introduce myself with the kind permission of the moderator. My name is Seshadri Veeraraghavan; orginally from Chennai, I now live in Houston, Texas. Despite being a Vadakalai Iyengar and having deeply spiritual parents, I somehow initially did not "connect" with the concept of the Supreme. Although I'd perform poojai every single day and dutifully chant various stotrams, I had a lot of trouble comprehending the idea of the Supreme, and could not reconcile His mercy and power with the goings-on in this Kaliyuga. However, recently I've started exploring and delving into my roots, in which my father is helping me quite a bit. It started with a small contribution to my father's Trust, in order to assist in the renovation of the "Sri Kamalavalli Thayar Sametha Sri Vijayaraghava Perumal Thirukkovil" temple in Puduvayal: http://www.divyadesamonline.com/othertemple/puduvayal.asp I've also started reading various scriptures with attention to meaning, origin, reason, and purpose. A recent purchase of a book by Shri SMS Chari, called "Philosophy and Theistic mysticism of Alwars," has helped me tremendously in both appreciating our wonderful heritage and simultaneously made me lament the amount of time I spent reading useless books and magazines that dealt in transient reality rather than the eternal. I hope to be able to learn a lot more and come to a firm[er] understanding of our roots and our true aim in life with the kind help of the members of this Group. Thank you for your time. Om Namo Naaraayanaaya! Adiyen, Seshadri Veeraraghavan
