Fictional Ferocity

koNda sERRam

Ferocity comes to one naturally as it is a part of our emotion. If one is very

soft and never gets perturbed? Then anger may not come. This is seldom seen.

However, in case of sriman nArAyaNA wrath never wraps Him. Anger never comes up.

It cannot surface because it is never underneath.

Now, a question comes up. If anger does not spring naturally how come the Lord

vanquishes and demolish the enemies within no time? How come He slains the

asurAs and demons mercilessly. Here again thirumangai AzhwAr comes up with a

ready made answer. The Lord takes up the ferocity for the sake of devotees. He

adapts the anger to suit the situation. He adopts the temerity temproarily to

fulfill the desires of His devotees.

Here the srE-vachana bhUshana sUthram "Eswaran avatharithu seiyyum Anaith

thozhilgaL ellAm bhAgavatha apachAram poRamaiyAlE" should be kept in mind. The

Lord comes into this world and does all the deeds as He cannot tolerate His

devotees being insulted/harmed-bhAgavatha abachAram.

The crocodile caught hold of the elephant gajEndrAzhwAn. gajEndrAzhwAn wanted to

do servcie to the Lord. The Lord took upon Him the anger and ferocity;

"kadi kOl pUm pozhi kAmaru poigai vaigu thAmaria vAngiya vEazhum mudiyum vaNNam

ore muzhu vali mudhalai paRRa,

maRRAdhu nin charaN ninaippa, kodiya vAi vilangin vuyir malanga -koNDa sERRAm..." 5-8-3;
