Guest guest
pal-vagaiyum parandha viLamba virOadham azhikkum virutha gadanA sAmarthiyam nan-nagarilEa visthEraNam- AchArya Hrdhayam 167; The dealy in having the divine vision of the Lord makes AzhwAr restless and in fact makes her feel angry (praNaya rOsham) towards the Lord. The Lord assuages this feeling by showing His omni-presence -;the omni-presence of having contrary things in Him. That is what sri nam-AzhwAr terms as "pal vagaiyum parandha " This is the auspicious quality highlighted in the thiru-voi-mozhi "nalguravum -selvum" 6-3; Here the Almighty reveals the things having contrary nature are all pervaded by Him. The wealth-penury, city-country, knowledge-ignorance, The refuge for the devotees but terror for the asurAs. He is none other than the ponnappan-maNiappan -Oppiliappan. EDu describes this aspect with alacrity. A thing has three causes. The casue of origin. The material with which it is made. The equipment and accessories which helps it to make. These are nimitha, upAdhAna and saha-kArika-kAraNam-s. We see that these are all different for any particular thing. However, for this nature, the universe, the world the cause is the Lord. Being omni-presence He is the upAdhAnam and also the saha-kArikam. Thus what we find in normal parlance as contradictory casues, we find as one in the Lord. That is pal-vagaiyum parandha,. EDu text: "ini nimithamAnadhu upAdhAnamAgamATTADhu;upAdhAnamAnadhu nimithamAgamATTAdhu; inganEirukka ivaiellAm thAnAi irukkiRapadiyaiyum, ivaRROadu kUdi irukkach seidhEyaum, ivaRRin dhOshangaL thanakku sparsikkadhirukkiRapadiyaiyum, dhOsham thattAmal kadakka irukkaiyanRikkEA niyanthAvAi irukkuRipadiyaiyum" The cause of anything cannot be its content and vice-versa.The Lord is both the cause and content. However, the defects in these do not taint Him.Not just being without being tainted, the Lord is the Governor of these. This great attribute is the prime in this Oppiliappan divya-dEsam. Let us go into the Periya thirumozhi pAsuram in this backdrop. Sri nam-AzhwAr thiruvadigaLE charaNam. Sri nam-piLLai thiruvadigaLEa charaNam. Sri azhagia maNavALap perumAL nAyanAr thiruvadigaLE charaNam.
