Guest guest
I have been a member of this site for a long time but I have never posted to this site. I would like to share my thoughts on this with the members. This post is strictly IMHO (in my humble opinion) only. It is not directed against an individual or group. We (my family) are Iyengars but even my grandmother used to go to Shiva temples and celebrate all the Shiva festivals along with the Vishnu festivals. So, I am not biased against anyone. I agree that in-fighting among Hindus has to stop. If it dosen't, we will lose more Hindus to evangelists like Benny Hinn. But, this is a site about Sri Vaishnavism. I am a member of many other groups (not related to religion) and they do not allow unrelated posts on their sites too. If we need to post an off topic, then we have to use the letters "OT" in the subject line. Also, OT subject threads are not allowed to continue for very long. The general rule of thumb is a limit of three days. Worship of Shiva is an off-topic in a Sri Vishnavism site unless it is related in some way to Sri Vaishnavism. Guest guest
SrI: SrImatE rAmAnujAya nama: SrI krishNa parabrahmaNE nama: SrImAn nArAyaNasya charaNau saraNam prapadyE Dear vaishNavAs, It is unfortunate that this topic is discussed so long by somany people in the group. I do not see any other reason than ignorance, why we are dragging this issue so far. No SrI vaishNava is ever disrespectful to Lord Siva, what SrI vaishNavAs believe is that Lord Siva also forms the body of our perumAL. That is to say, Lord Siva is also dependant on the perumAL for the very existance. Lord Siva Himself is never envious of the position of his Lord, SrImAn nArAyaNa, and ever meditating on His lotus feet. He adorns Ganga dEvi on his head, after she washes the feet of Lord Hari, the Supreme purifier, and then he bears the name Siva(auspicious). When rAkshasAs like bhasmAsura tried to anhillate lord Siva, he immediately prayed to his Swami for protection. There is no competetion between lord Siva and Lord vishNu, for both of them are aware of their respective positions. vEdAs, the infallible truth, also proclaim the same fact. With this knowledge in mind, SrI vaishNavAs hold great respect for lord siva. There is no SrI vaishNava who considers Siva as inauspicious. However what SrI vaishNavAs reject, is to hold Siva and vishNu on the same level, as it is condemned by vEdAs, padma purANA, and all other pramANAs. The reason for asking this 'gAyatri' to stop messages, is not just because the messages revere Siva, but they are against all tenents of SrI visishTAdvaita sarIra-sarIri sidhAnta. SrI AchAryAs starting from lakshmi nAtha,....nAtha, yamuna,.... until present day's AchAryAs every one proclaimed vEdA's one pointed essense as SrI visishTa advaita. SrI vaishNavAs completely reject any idea that equates jIvAtma and paramAtma, or that falsifies this creation as unreal. The multiplicity of souls is eternal truth. Even 'you are never me', and you can forget about statements like'you are God'. VedAs have never taught such stuff, and SrI AchAryAs can prove the authenticity of our sidhAnta with pramANa, nyAya and tarka. A SrI vaishNava never hesitates to say anything outside of vEdic (visishTa advaitha) sidhAnta is wrong, but however, they do not disrespect people who are non vEdic. But to proclaim non vEdic theories as vEdic religion is completely absurd and objectionable. Such claims should be thoroughly dealt as ordained by SrI rAmAnuja himself. These days many people started saying, 'I am also a vaishNava but I am secular enough to accept all philosophies', the answer to all such people is that, 'you are just born in vaishNava families but did not learn anything about vaishNavism, mere birth in vaishNava family doesnot ensure any body to be a vaishNava, only when one takes exclusive refuge of the lotus feet of a vaishNava AchArya and learns the sidhAnta from him then one originally becomes a vaishNava as long as one follows the AchArya'. Those who are not Sri vaishNavAs are also welcome to learn about vaishNava sidhAnta. But that doesnot mean that to accomodate non-SrI vaishNavAs, SrI vaishNavAs have to compromise on their very sidhAnta. So, please learn from learned SrI vaishNavAs about vaishNava sidhAnta, ask doubts, but please do not use this as a platform to anti-vaishNava schools, which are also non-vEdic. dAsOham, SrIperumbUdUru vEnkaTa vinOd. , "Geetha123" <geetha123> wrote: > I have been a member of this site for a long time but I have never > posted to this site.
