Dear srEvaishNavites,

1. ari-sinathAl EnRA thAi agaRRidinum-maRRavaL than aruL ninaindhEa

azhum kuzhavi-adhuvEA pOnRirundhEanEa

A mother has no equal. She longs for a child. She cherishes the growing of the

child in the belly. Such is the fact of the mother who has given birth to a

child.

Then she has given the mother's milk.

The affection towards the child is thus natural. The mother therefore is not

expected to be angry with the child.

Despite all this, due to burning rage if the mother pushes away the child, the

child will not seek refuge elsewhere. It will long for the affection of the

mother.

That is what Sri kula-sEkara AzhwAr mentions

'ari-sinathAl-EnRa thAi -agaRRidinum-mARRavaL than aruL ninaindhEa-azhum kuzhavi '

Similarly, Oh! Lord of vithuvakkOTe, I will never leave You, but will long for Your immense Grace.

2. 'kaNdAr igazhavanAvEa, kAdhalan thAn seidhidinum, koNdAnai allAl aRiyAk kulamagaL pOle'

The relationship between two hearts is love and affection. Their relationship is

bonded by this inseparable glue. The society identifies their togetherness with

this adhesive.

However, due to some difference of opinion -pranaya kalaham-vUdal-- the

lover/husband insults in front of everybody, slanders her,

the pathivradhA, will not seek refuge unto somebody. She will still consider the

person as her husband who has entered into wedlock as agni as witness -the Lord

being the in-dweller of the fire.

Likewise, Oh!. Lord of vithuvakOTe, even if you still do not show Your Grace on

me, I have got no other refuge. You are the only one is my natural relationship

for the jEvAthmA.

The above two examples thus depict the

mother child relationship and husband wife relationship --- peurmAL thiru-mozhi 5- 1 and 5-2;
