Guest guest
SrI: Dear SrI Padmanabhan svami, That's why pUrvAs call(ed) tiruppAvai as 'vEdamanaiththukkum viththu'. What a wonderful link between each subsequent lines and how pregnant every word and combinations of word are!! This again proves that why we have to learn from scholars - those who have learnt under the tiruvaDis of AchAryAs! ('puNNiyam yAmum uDaiyOm' to have such associations!) AzhvAr pAsurams and in particular the capsule of them 'tiruppAvai' pAsurams are full of subtle meanings which one can not get to know by doing vEdAdhyayanam for many janmams (recall parASarA's episode) !! Thanks a lot and awaiting your (assured!!) postings very eagerly! dAsAnu dasan [] On Behalf Of PadmanabhanSunday, June 19, 2005 8:06 PMdivyadesamsRe: A Peep into Periya ThiruMozhi 148 Dear Shri Mukund swAmy, I just returned from Mumbai after two days trip, Hence did not reply immediately. The first couple of lines of 'kaRavaigaL pin senRu' indicates the lack of karmA-gnAnA and bakthi yOgam-s. The Lord asks whether they possess the past and present effect of good deeds --puNNIyam-s. Their answer is in the negative. However, they declare that they possess the sAksthAth dharmam-the ultimate puNNiyam -Lord krshNA. 'puNNiyam yAm-udiayOam' The 28th pAsuram of thiruppAvai explains the means to attain Him. the 29th the end. Having declared that karma-gnAna-bhakthi yOgam or puNNiyam-s are not a failsure method or means nor is incumbent to the nature of the jEvAthmA , the next question is the person who grants the wishes should be of immense potential -capable of elevate souls despite their failings. This is indicated by the word -kuRai onRum illAdha gOvindhA. The next is why should He do it for us? this is because of the natural relationship with Him. This particular relationship cannot be removed or destoryed. It is eternal. It does not get terminated with ones demise. This is indicated by the words ' vundhannOdu vuRavEal -vozhikka vozhiyAdhu' Then why did not the Grace did not fall till date? The acknowledgement that we do not possess anything-the efforts from our side- The realisation that He is our natural relative and that this relationship cannot be traded for mOksham has to fructify. In case of ANDAL -She was earlier calling Him formally -nArAyaNA and so on. Here she terms Him as GOvindha. This is termed as earlier ignorance -aRiyAdha piLLaigaLoam anbinAl vunnai siRu pEAr -- formal names He is the means . His GRAce is the means. He is the dharmam or puNNiyam. The thiru-voi-mozhi 'nORRa nOanbu ilEan' and thiruppAvai 'nORRuch suvarkkam' also voice the same concept. I shall write with vyAkyAnam quotes in due course. dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan -----
