yasOdhA to Lord krshNA

vangEpurathu nambi to Sri rAmAnujA

Neither aruLicheyal of AzhwAr-s nor their vyAkyAnam-s of pUrvAchAryAs are

exaggerations or imaginations. They are emancipation of emotions.

The vyAkyAnam-s are felt and experienced and understood from various incidents

from the life of our AchAryAs.

These are then sweetly brought out by vyAkyAna karthAs for better understanding.

Lord krishNA who is the creator, sustainer and destroyer of one and all, was

caught in the act of picking up butter and was tied to the vural. The Lord on

seeing yAsOdhA wept, tears rolling out from His tender eyes and had to undergo

the punishment--AppuNDu.

Is it possible? The supreme Lord being so silent and subservient to one of the jEvAthmAs?

Or is it just an emotional narration?

vangEpurathu nambi was requesting vudayavar to teach him thiru-ArAdhanam for

quite some time. Due to some reason or other this was not done.

One day, Sri rAmAnujA started teaching thiruvArAdhanam to AzhwAn and sri

hanumath dhAsar. Suddenly, emerged therein vangEpurathu nambi. vudayavar felt

guilty on two counts. Having been requested, he should have taught him this. At

least, this day when he was teaching others, he should have called him for the

study. Hence, he felt extremely embarrassed and delicate. The great Sri

rAmAnujA feeling guilty and shy in front of his own disciples.

Here came the flash to Sri rAmAnujA. If this is possible, this should have been

the case with Lord krshNA. Similar to this fashion that should also have

occurred. Therefore, more than emotional narrations, these experiences do

explain to us the full import of pAsuram-s and happenings to be seen in the

right perspective.

This very incident has been described by Sri periyavAchAn piLLai in the

vyAkyAnam for the thirumozhi pAsuram, where thirumangai AzhwAr narrates Lord

krshNA bursting aloud with sobs when caught stealing butter.

The pAsuram.

"oLiyA veNNai vuNDAn enRu vuralOdAichi on kayiRRAl, viLiyA Arka AppuNdu vimmi azhudhAn" 6-7-4;

and there goes another incident being narrated in thriumozhi.
