I have just today accessed my copy of Witzel’s truly

hysterical “review†of my book.

 

While there is plenty of time to search out the points, from

among the abuse, and answer them (if at all necessary), one thing that

must be

answered at once is Witzel’s amazing and false claim that I

“abused†him at

the

Bangalore conference.

 

He claims not just general abuse (which itself was missing)

but a specific phrase “Germo-centric Racist†which he claims, on

the basis of

a report from someone (who, he claims in a subsequent letter is “a

person

well-known to me, on whose correctness and objectivity I can take

oathâ€), I

used

against him. And then (in a typical Witzelism, of a type illustrated

by me in

my book, taking an imaginary button and sewing a vest onto it) he

criticizes

the

grammatical correctness of this phrase invented by him or by his

“reporterâ€!

 

It is my turn to take an oath in writing: my only reference to

Witzel in Bangalore was when I quoted his description of the Rigveda

as

a tape-recording, and I referred to him as the person who had carried

on a

media- blitz (and an abusive one at that!) against Dr. Rajaram. THAT

WAS ALL!

IF

ANYONE can prove by ANY means (I hope Witzel’s reporter had a

tape-recorder)

any

“abuse†beyond this, much less the crazy phrase invented by Witzel

or his

reporter, I am willing to accept ANY punishment or judgement from any

authority.

 

It is extremely unfortunate, to put it in the mildest possible

terms, that the debate is sinking to this incredible level.
