Guest guest
India Joins the Club: India today successfully launched a new rocket that carries the country's hopes of joining the elite commercial satellite launch club. The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) took off right on schedule at 3:43 pm (1013 GMT) from the Sriharikota launch site in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. A previous launch planned for March 28 had to be aborted after one of the four strap-on booster rockets failed to achieve the required level of thrust.
