HINDI POSITION AT UVA

 

The University of Virginia seeks candidates for an Assistant

Professor, two-year, full-time, non-tenure-track position in Hindi and

South Asian literature. Applicants must have the PhD, language

teaching experience, literature teaching experience, and at least

near-native ability in Hindi.

 

Three undergraduate, semester-long courses in South Asian literature,

taught in English, and three semester-long Hindi courses at the

second- and third-year level will be taught. At least one of the

literature courses should address gender studies in the area of South

Asian literature.

 

Candidates should send a letter, CV, sample descriptions of literature

courses, and three letters of reference to Professor Robert

A. Hueckstedt, Head of the Search Committee, AMELC, P.O. Box 400781,

University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia 22904. Application

deadline is May 20, 2001.
