Amb[h]aTTha seems to be from Sanskrit ambaSTha, a

person born of a Brahmin father and a Vaizya mother.

Bengali Dictionaries inform that Bengali vaidyas

[class/caste name] are ambaSThas, and are the

descendents of the Carakas.

One of the meanings of bhaTTa is a person of a mixed

caste. But the words are not etymologically related. I

understand that when you wrote bhaTTha you meant

bhaTTa.

best wishes.
