Guest guest Posted April 26, 2001 Report Share Posted April 26, 2001 Parangi which is derivative of Firangi used both by the Tamils and Sinhalese of Sri Lanka, can at times be a racist term but also a term of endearment when used in the context of friends who are Parangi (such as the Euro-asian Burghers). It is used to refer to any one who is looks 'Parangi' including Sri lankans who have been there for over 500 years or children of mixed parents.
