There are two paragraphs found on p. 729 of vol. 2 (reproduced as exactly as

I can do it in this program):

 

si'na- n. (RV 2,30,2; 3,62,1), ta't-sina- (RV 1,61,4), si'navant- (RV

10,102,11): Vedische Woerter von nicht einmuetiger Interpretation.

 

Nach GeRV (zu den Stellen) 'Vergeltung, Lohn', nach Grassm 'Habe'; andere

Exegeten gehen von 'Ausruestung, Verstaerkung' od. aehnl. aus (s. Renou EVP

16 [1967] 96, 102). --Die etymologischen Deutungen haengen von der

philologischen Auffasung ab; so wurde si'na- zu SAA [that's uppercase-S with

uppercase A with a macron over it] 'binden', *SAA 'saettigen' (o. I 146f.,

mit Lit.), auch zu SAN(I) [(I) = small superscript roman numeral I)

'gewinnen, erlangen' gestellt; im letzteren Falle zaehlte man si'na als

*s(subscript e)nHo- zu den Faellen fuer "Laryngal-Umlaut" (s. o. II 638 [mit

Lit.], KEWA III 466 [mit weiterem]; Bee, KZ 96 [1982/83] 202, 205).
