Seeing your response, I realize that I may have misread you, and I offer my apologies. However, your suggestion that Westerners regard Indians in the same way that biologists regard guinea-pigs is quite hopeless. I have never met anybody with that sort of attitude. What you often will find among South-Asianists is a certain analytical detachment, but you will find the same attitude in any kind of scholar. To stay objective, we are not supposed to be all ice and fire, but luke-warm. But that is a far cry from regarding Indians as laboratory animals. Lars Martin Dr. art.
