Guest guest
To Richard Mahoney: Thanks for mentioning Jay Garfield's work. Please visit the site at: http://www.infinityfoundation.com/haw.htm. You will see that we have worked with Garfield, and that in December, 1998 we had him over for talks at U of Hawaii. You also mention East-West Center in Hawaii, and yes, we have a working relationship with them as well. In fact, the 15-part Infinity Foundation Lecture Series is to be published as a special edition of their esteemed journal. In my earlier post, I had mentioned that amongst all major US universities, the only places where we found them giving a PhD in IP from a philosophy department are: U of Hawaii and U-Texas(Austin). That U of Hawaii is one place sympathetic to IP is therefore already known to us. But you fail to get the point - the DISTRIBUTION of IP within mainstream philosophy is miniscule. Are you aware that a PhD in religious studies will NOT position you well for a good job in a philosophy department. Do you know the distinctions amongst these fields? To Dmitri: I am merely presenting my case for Eurocentrism, which is what I was invited to do, and I am focusing on philosophy departments. Please don't worry that philosophy departments might start to listen to me - you are quite safe. To appreciate 'Essentialism', and its relationship with Orientalism as a cause and Distortionism as an effect, please read the lecture by Richard W. Lariviere at: http://asnic.utexas.edu/asnic/subject/gondalecture.html. Rajiv Malhotra is certainly trying. It is good to know that he WILL fail; this will necessitate a redoubled effort. That is the central point of eurocentrism, a faith that the superior *E or *IE is the Uhreimat and everything -- all thought, everything cultural packaged in an elite kit -- flows from their wanderlust. This faith reflects in the curricula of western universities (Europe and US included).
