Guest guest
Dear Colleagues, I hope that someone who has access to a better library than ours could help me to identify an old edition of the play Venisamhara by Bhatta Narayana. Twenty years ago I bought with a couple of Rupies the remains of a book from a street dealer in Bombay. Much is missing (title page, preface, introduction), but the text is complete and therefore can be used. The text is given in 200 pages accompanied with an English translation on bottom of every page. The first verse begins in the translation with the words: May this cavityful of flowers, the juice in which is stirred (lulita) by bees (as they hover about it), though warded off, the buds in which are fully (sam) blown... I suppose this is enough for identification. After the text start elaborate notes in English, but in my copy they end abrupty in the middle of a sentence commenting the verse 1, 25, the last page number being 264. In order to be able to refer to the text, I would like to know who was the editor/translator and where and when the book was published.
