Guest guest
I don't know of Munda speaking folks in TN or Karnataka or Kerala? Are there any references for Munda folks of South India? There is a Fig. (9?) in the article (URL given below) which puts many Munda folks in South India? Who are they, what are they called? Any MuNDa languages in S. India? Thanks, N. Guest guest
> Any MuNDa languages in S. India? > Ganesan, look closer at the map (Fig. 9) in the URL you quote. It shows presence of Austric speakers by a star and absence by a solid dot/triangle. Somewhat redundant, but check also Fig. 10, which shows presence and absence of Dravidian speakers. Orissa, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh have many stars for Austric languages; S. India has little. There is a star here and there in north Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, near the borders with Maharashtra and Orissa. There is a little too much information on these maps, which makes it confusing, but the table given in the article clarifies things.
