Mahadevan's papers which Mahadevan himself has written that his approach was shown to be one that needs revisioning as shown by G. Siromoney. PuLLi occurs in Vashish.taputra Satakar.ni's coin of 160 AD, and in the An2aimalai inscription of 2nd century. Next, in the earliest inscription on music in India which contains the jatis as in modern bharatanATyam - the aRaccalUr record discovered by Pulavar ce. irAcu, Head (retd.)., Dept. of epigraphy, Tamil university. I will give the exact words of Mahadevan updating his classification of Tamil Brahmi recors and the occurence of puLLi in second century AD coin and inscription as well. Falk's date of 5th century, as quoted by LS, need to be revised to 2nd century at least - a difference of 300 years. Thanks for naming Gift Siromoney, he's the man who found solid evidence on inscribed stone. More later, N.
