I would like to thank Dr.Paul Kekai Manansala to bring to our attention

the name

"Sangi-ngi(-ga)" in place of commonly used name Sumerians.I would like

to thank Dr.Ganesan for giving me the reference of Dr.Loganathan. In

articles published by some writers from India, efforts were made to

connect the name Sumerian to the name "Sumeru" (which is wrong) based

upon phonetic similitude without going to the root of the corrupted

labels.

I am now quoting from the book, "Semitic amd Hamitic Origins" by G.A,

Barton.

"The name of Girsu, the principle borough of Lagash, is in the early

texts, sometimes written as SU-GIR-----. SU-GIR, as was long ago pointed

out can also be read "SUN-GIR", a name which is almost identical with

Singara, a place in upper Mesopotemia founded by a later wave of this

same Asiatic people. The writer has long held that Sumer, the name by

which southern Babylonia was afterwards called, is corruption of this

name."(end of quote). Now Shingara was also used for the mountain range

called Zagros. Perhaps Indo-Iranian scholars could enlighten us with the

origin of the name Zagros.

Some writers from India have connected the label"Assyrian" to "Asuras"

(which is wrong) based again on the superficial phonetic similitude.I

believe there must be either a semivowel or a consonant before "A of the

word Assyrian" which is either lost or left over for some reason. I

request scholars to illuminate us on the name Assyrians like PKM did in

case of Sumerians.

Another error in connecting Medes (Medo-Persian Empire) to Madra. Here

Prof.Witzel could help us in identifying the earlier name version of "

Mada".

I am surprised to see that the most preliminary information about these

corrupted names has not percolated to the history books of India. Thanks.

N.R.Joshi.

Dr. Joshi,

I remember reading Dr. Loga's article that Kumari = Sumeru.

Few years ago, in Tamil I think. If you ask Loganathan,

he will possibly give his essay on Kumari-Sumeru connexion

in English.

Regards,

N. Ganesan
