Guest guest
Dear List & Indologists, Is vajra an IE or IIr word? Thanks for telling me. Or, is it a non IIr word absorbed from India? Is vajra not only diamond, thunderbolt but hard wood, gum-resin from hard wood too. I read once from S. Kalyanaraman (Indology archives, Liverpool)that vajra means hard wood gum-resin. Is it so? Is it possible that vajra is related to Tamil words in sangam literature? Regards, N. Ganesan
