That is why I participated in this discussion by giving a bibliographical hint. For the record, I would like to point out that I do not believe that present-day German Indologists are Nazis or Nazi sympathisers. There has, however, been a reluctance to "clean house", and I think it is necessary to do. As Pollock points out, the scholarly work of the relevant generation of German scholars is professional, and cannot be rejected out of hand as mere hackneyed Nazi propaganda. However, it is useful to know what kind of ideological leanings a scholar has, particularly when s/he writes about matters that are politically sensitive. This comes out very clearly when we read papers on the Indo-European homeland, where German Nazi era scholars produced work that was hardly much better than the out-of-India theory (although couched in a more sophisticated language). Guest guest
I agree that present day Indologists are not sympathisers of such causes. However, there is a need to "clean house". To that end, can someone put Pollock's and de Jong's articles online?
