Guest guest
Since the Naa.tya'saastra is up for discussion, would anyone have evidence for performances of Buddhist jaatakas or avadaanas as popular theatre in the Gupta or early Pala periods? I know we have texts such as the Naagaananda, but I am looking for evidence about performance -- ideally popular rather than courtly performances, along the lines of the much later Tibetan ache lhamo. -W. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Will Douglas Oxford University for contact info see <http://www.sattvajala.org/people/wbd/contact.html> <will
