Evidence for jatakas in dramatic performance

Since the Naa.tya'saastra is up for discussion, would anyone have

evidence for performances of Buddhist jaatakas or avadaanas as popular

theatre in the Gupta or early Pala periods? I know we have texts such as

the Naagaananda, but I am looking for evidence about performance --

ideally popular rather than courtly performances, along the lines of the

much later Tibetan ache lhamo.
