Guest guest
Latin Punicus = Poenicus, "Phoenician" (in this context = Carthaginian). All appear to be loan-words from Greek "Phoinix", itself of obscure origin. Dr Valerie J Roebuck Manchester, UK N R Joshi writes: >And what is the origin of the word >"Punic" in three wars mentioned in European history as the "Punic Wars"?
