Dear List Members,

(Diacritics/italics suppressed in this message)

This is to inform all those who are interested in the

comparative study of Panini and Post-Paninian Sanskrit

grammars, that the <Concordance of Nine Sanskrit

Grammars> has been already prepared by me. The

"Concordance" consists of 170 pp in which Panini sutra

and varttika numbers have been given in the first

column in serial order and in the following columns

the corresponding sutra numbers of the eight grammars

--- Bhojadeva's Sarasvatikanthabharana(SKA), Katantra,

Candra, Jainendra (Mahavrtti),Jainendra

(Laghuvrtti or Sabdarnavacandrika), Sakatayana, Haima

and Malayagiri. Considering convenience for omparison,

the chronological order has not been followed, e.g.

both recensions of Jainendra grammar are kept side by

side.

Total number of entries (i.e. no.of rows) in the

<Concordance> is 4669, comprising 3983 Panini sutras

and the remaining 686 entries based only on varttikas

or istis.

The "Introduction" part of the "Concordance" is under

preparation.

The SKA is the only extant revised edition of

Panini in which the Vedic and accent rules have also

been included. It is the biggest Sanskrit grammarof

the sutra style containing 6432 sutras (Madras

edition, 1937) in all.

I have also prepared "Concordance Haima-Panini"

and "Concordance Sakatayana-Panini" which, to my

knowledge, have not been published so far.

Anybody interested in SKA may look forward to my

aricle <Sarasvatikanthabharana - the Magnum Opus of

Sanskrit Grammar> which is to appear in the coming

issue of "SAMBODHI", L D Institute of Indology,

Ahmedabad.
