Guest guest
Magan is identified as the souther sea coast of the Pakistan and Iranian Baluchistan. It was known as Makaran because people there used to eat fish. The ancient name of the city Karachi (Pakistan ) was not Karachi but something like Mikulachi. So Meluhha might refer to the ancient port city of Sindh. Around 500 BCE Sindh and other provinces further north along Sindhu river were engaged in growing Teak wood trees and exporting logs of them. There is description of Teakwood logs flowing south through the river to the port city for export to the Middle-east. Teak wood and Cedar(Kedar wood-controlled by Phoenicians ) were used in the ancient world for ship building because these woods do not rot in water. Perhaps Pakistan scholars could tell us the ancient name of Karachi. Teakwood samples from India from the level of 3000 BCE were found in the Middle-east. Thanks.
