The final shape of the text as we have it today may not be older than 15th century. > What is the date of SArALAdAsa MahAbhArata? SAraLAdAsa began composing his MahAbhArata during Gajapati Kapilendradeva's reign and completed during the reign of Purusottama Deva. So his time is estimated c. 1460-1530. > Interesting questions are > > - how far back does "bappa" go? I vaguely remember to have seen a couple of instances in Puspadanta [perhaps not as 'bappa', but as bAppa' or 'bappA']. But I do not remember if they occur in Paumacaria or in NAyakumAracaria. I do not have access to these texts now. Perhaps some one on this list would help out. These texts have glossaries in the appendices, and the search would not be labour-intesive. Best Wishes.
