Guest guest
Respected Scholars, Is there a definitive study available on the history of the redacted text of the Bhavishya Purana ? This text is being used by Hindus, Muslims, New Age Aryo-sophists / Neo-Gnostics and even 'Jesus Seminar' / Search-for-the-historical-Jesus fans to bolster their various arguments. Over 20 years ago i briefly looked into the issue of the authenticity of this text, when it was first brought to my attention. All i remember at the time was that the editions with the passages in question were all modern and tracable to a single movement and man. No previous or other editions contained the passages in question. It was obviously a modern redaction full of political, racial and religious motivation. Not realizing the social impact it was having, i didn't pursue it any further, or keep my references. Now it has developed a huge 'following' and i regret having lost all those references. Is anyone working on this ? I would hope that Hindu Scholars would be keenly interested in preserving the integrity of their literatures. Sadly i am hearing of this redacted edition being embraced as authentic sastra by many Hindu and other leaders. Challenging it has even become dangerous 'blasphemy' in some circles. My impression was that the redaction had the earmarks of an Aryo-sophic work, perhaps related to anti-semitic Masonry or proto Theosophy. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. your aspiring servant in the quest for TRUTH, Bhakti Ananda Goswami
