A recent book by prof. R. Eaton deals with raids on temples.

 

In old India it was directed towards the

temples of the tutelary deity of the royal family.

A type of Devaraja concept is evident in

Kapileshvaram by King Kapilendra, Rajarajesvaram by

Rajaraja Chola, etc.
