Guest guest Posted December 27, 2001 Report Share Posted December 27, 2001 In the book (page 136) "Hindu Society - An Interpretation" (1968), Irawati Karve says - "In Maharashtra there are Kanva, Jabala, Madhyandin and other smaller castes..." while describing the Sukla Yajurvedi Deshastha Brahmins. She describes the Kanva and Madhyandin in detail, but leaves out Jabalas and others. Could some shed more light on Jabalas? Is there any published work that would contain information on this community, and on any survivals of their Sakha texts?
