Dear list members,

Does anybody know how udghAta came to mean "chapter or division of a book"?

>From Monier-Williams ghAta (from root han)= slaying, killing etc.

and udghAta is act of striking, inflicting a wound but also beginning,

commencement, division of book, chapter.

Thanks,

Harry
