Guest guest Posted April 4, 2002 Report Share Posted April 4, 2002 Dear List, In "Buddhist Precept and Practice," Prof. Gombrich treats the subject of pUja, At one point he mentions that ". . . flowers, etc., are the true Buddhist offerings . . . ." (p. 141). On the next page, he then writes that ". . . the offering of food to the Buddha is a practice borrowed from the Hindus." Query: What is the earliest mentioning of flowers for pUja in 'Buddhist' and 'Hindu' literature?
