Guest guest
The literal meaning of prasAda (the "m" is just the neuter nominative ending, not part of the stem) is something like "grace" or favour": hence its use in Hindu worship to refer to food, flowers etc, previously been offered to a deity, that are given to worshippers as a sign of the deity's grace. It is derived from sad- to sit, with the prefix pra, towards: hence, to settle down, become calm/clear/happy. Probably it was originally used of water, weather etc becoming calm, but early became extended to refer to happy and peaceful states of mind.
