David Magier) ========== POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Literatures and Cultures of South Asia (University of Minnesota - Twin Cities) The Department of Asian languages and Literatures in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is expanding its initiative in both the teaching and research of Asian languages and literature. In coordination with other academic units at the University, such as Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature, Women's Studies, and History, we are exploring new intellectual configurations in the study of Asia. We are interested in candidates who show an enthusiasm for working in interdisciplinary environments, with innovative approaches to the study of literature, cultural texts, and theory. We are searching for a full-time, nine-month faculty member with expertise in the literary and cultural analysis of South Asian texts, broadly defined; we encourage applications from scholars working in all periods and approaches, including those beyond traditional literary studies. This position may be made at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-track) or associate professor (with tenure). A Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in South Asian literatures or related field is required by the start date of the appointment. Advanced ABD may be considered.
