Guest guest
The mystery of visarga is due mainly to its deterioration in modern pronunciation. Visarga, as its same suggests, is an eroded sibilant, which changes its sthAna within the vocal organs according to its neighbors. It ought NEVER to be pronounced as in, for example, yAma: = yAmahah, where the god of death equals Cocteauvian motorcycles. The tongue should not quite touch the roof of the mouth, and then all sounds including the "o" will be made. See the early part of Panini, where the orthography is made clear. ____________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals..ca
