Guest guest
Dear List Members, ( Note: In all the hindii passage, the case insensitive 7-bit transliteration scheme of Dr A P Stone has been used. Abbreviations: HV = Kaamataa Prasasda Guru:"hindii vyaakara.na", 22nd edition, Samvat 2058; 495 pp. HS = Pt Ki;soriidaasa Vaajapeyii:"hindii ;sabdaanu;saasana", 5th edition, Samvat 2055; 608 pp.) Can somebody explain whether the following sentence in hindii is kart,r-vaacya or karma-vaacya? "mai;mne pustaka pa.rhii". ( I read the book). As per HS, p.597, it is karma-vaacya. But according to HV, p.219, such a sentence is formwise kart,r-vaacya and meaningwise karma-vaacya, and the author terms it "kart,r-vaacya karma.ni prayoga" which looks a bit strange, because "karma.ni prayoga" some way or other gives the meaning of karma-vaacya.
