Better is the EUP "Teach yourself Sanskrit" by

Coulson. There is a key to the exercises, and not a

misprint in the book, and it takes you up to Kalidasa

in a year or so.

There are a couple of misprints in the devanagari, which were at the time

a nightmare to get through. But one emerges the stronger for it, and

anyway every Sanskritist nees to be trained to identify and work through

brilliantly misleading

misprints.
