[Y-Indology] date (time, age) of Shankaracharya?

I've seen at one time or another dates ranging from

8th Century BCE to 8th Century CE; but the linguistic

evidence would seem to point more likely at 8th CE.

I have read in a non-scholarly work that Shankara lived during the times

when the Sun temple at Moolasthan (Multan) was destroyed by islamic hordes?

Is there anything concrete that points to this? In any case is there a

proper dating of this event?

 

Shankara is also invariably linked to Kumarila and Mandanamisra. Is there a

date for either?

I've often looked for them! I once found what was purportedly a Sanskrit

chatlist, believe it or not. But not surprisingly, I was the only one

there, the voice of one crying in the wilderness, nai' va kash cid iha

bhavati?!

 

Or maybe my Sanskrit was just so bad that it didn't deserve an answer.
