Guest guest
Gave F. Britto's book notes about the k,h (IPA symbol, x), and g "sounds" for the tamil letter k, and c, s, and j "sounds for the tamil letter c in http://www.services.cnrs.fr/wws/arc/ctamil/2002-11/msg00020.html A nicely produced chart for the Sanskrit letters is in: http://home.t-online.de/home/ulrich.stiehl/ipa_sans.pdf Hope Tamil linguistics professionals give us a chart similar to the Sanskrit chart. From Zvelebil's 1950s/1960s caste/regional studies of dialects, F. Britto's diglossia book & so on can help them formulate this phonology chart with IPA symbols. Just as Sanskrit, the 204-page "Handbook of the International Phonetic Association. A Guide to the Use of the International Phonetic Alphabet", Cambridge University Press 1999 will be of immense help. The team of linguists, I'd think, must deeply consider the vallin2am letters, Aytam "sounds". The phonology team can possibly approach the INFITT group once it's formulated for any computer help. I'm sure such a chart will be of immense help. Regards, N. Ganesan
