Guest guest
Dear list members, I've noticed that the following sanskrit is now available. 1. The ITRANSLATOR utility from the Omkarananda ashram has now been upgraded to work on windows 2000 and windows xp. The new version is called ITRANSLATOR99. For those who have never used this. It is a very user-friendly utility to type in (or paste) sanskrit in ITRANS coding and converts it simultaneously to devanagari and transliteration. It uses the fonts (supplied by them) sanskrit99 or ancientsanskrit99 for devanagari and URW Palladio for transliteration. It can be downloaded from http://www.omkarananda-ashram.org/ . 2. I've just discovered the downloadable front-end interface to the University of Cologne on-line Monier-Williams dictionary by Luis Bontes downlaodable from http://members.ams.chello.nl/l.bontes/ . Since with this utility the dictionary files reside on your computer instead of on the web it is lightning fast and the Version 1.5 beta (also downlaodable from there) allows you to specify either left, right, middle or all for your input string. So you can specify the start of a word only, or more impressively if you specify "middle" or "right" you can leave off the prefixes from a root or stem and get all the words with the various prefixes for that root or stem. The output is also formatted in a very user-friendly manner. VERY IMPRESSIVE. Harry Spier 371 Brickman Rd. Hurleyville, New York USA 12747 _______________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
