Guest guest
> For those reading Tamil literature, it is known. In epigraphy > and puraaNams, Saiva records are far more in number. If mere textual evidence is to be considered, then given the number of Sanskrit texts preserved in the south, one can claim that it is the Vedic religion which dominates in TN! >The number of temples > dedicated to Shiva and Saivaite deities like Durga far outnumber > other sects. Amman devotees would not accept that she is a "diety" of Shiva. There are thousands of Amman temples in TN which do not house a Shiva idol. For eg in the temple of my family deity "Draupadi Amman" in Vengalathur (near Kaanchipuram), standing beside Amman are the idols of Arjuna and Krishna, but no Shiva!
