Cophes or Cophen is the current Greek name of the Kabul, a western tributary of the Indus, known to Greeks since the days of Alexander. The man is variously Zarmaros and Zarmanochegas. Incident such as his death are not unknown in North India, either. > Are there references in Greek/Roman literature to Indian/Tamil > settlements? I am not sure, if I got the point. There are accounts of South India, sure. There are also some mentions of Indians living in South Arabia and Soqotra, even in Egypt, but they are just called Indians.
