A 19th century printed book by a Brahmin widow, AviTai ammaaL

(vEtAntap paLLu) is there.

 

While urban brahmins from Madras follow Kanchi or Sringeri nowadays,

there is no evidence that village smartha brahmins had affliation

with these mutts earlier.
