Such claims are ridiculous - unless somebody went to villages and did serious research one cannot ascertain this - which I'm pretty sure that Ganesan hasn't done. Can Ganesan please please refrain from making wild claims and argue instead with factual/textual information in such discussions? I've a lot of relatives who live in the villages in interior TamilNadu - all of them are connected with the Kaanchi matha. Also Shankara mathas are rural and not urban - which of them is in the cities? There're all in villages.
