Guest guest
> A little checking Ramanuja life history tells that Ramanuja > initially didn't go to Kanchi "to take on advaita". It would have been good if you'd provided information on this, rather than the unnecessary long account about Yaadhava and Raamaanuja. Also a careful reading of Yaadhava's philosophy will show that he was not an Advaitin as popularly claimed - but a bhedaabhedavaadi. > As I said before, no ancient name for Pondichery as veda-. > It was called PutuccEri, and "putukai" as short form in tamil. > Pudukai's ancientness can be seen in Greek and Roman sources > (eg., Preiplus) where Pouduke is recorded. But how do you know "Pouduke" is infact Puduchcheri? In Pondicherry I've specifically seen mention of "Vedapuri" in some temples. Also it is not unusual for a place to have multiple names - brahmins could have called it Vedapuri and others Puducheri. Or maybe the two existed independently side by side and when "Pondicherry" was taken over by the French, they integrated.
