The word is found even in Literature, from 15th century. The actual pronouniation is more like Z(as in zebra)ohar. This letter is not used these days. In Tamil, the greetings word is "vaNakkam" - has the same meaning as Namaskaaram/Namaste. Indologists told that namaaz (Persian) and namaste go back to IE. Regards, N.
