The Buddha's disciple Ananda is a fine example of getting

'awakened-released' while - doing what? According to the text, while in

mid-air, already not standing, but not lying down yet.

 

Cullavagga XI, 6: [...] apattaJ ca sIsam bimbohanaM bhUmito ca pAdA muttA:

etasmiM antare anupAdAya Asavehi cittaM vimucci. atha kho AyasmA Anando
