The first western grammar about Sanskrit is in Latin written by Father

Heinrich Roth (1620-1668) during 1660-62. The grammar is descriptive and

shows great pedagogical skill. This grammar is based on Panini. It remained

in the manuscript form until 1988 when it was published in a facsimile

edition in Leiden. [ Ref: Valentina Stache-Rosen (1990):"German

Indologists", 2nd revised edition, Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi, pp.1-2].

Kind regards.
