(Amsterdam: John Benjamins B.V., > 1977) The first western grammar about Sanskrit is in Latin written by Father Heinrich Roth (1620-1668) during 1660-62. The grammar is descriptive and shows great pedagogical skill. This grammar is based on Panini. It remained in the manuscript form until 1988 when it was published in a facsimile edition in Leiden.
